Tests

When you see a Doctor or Nurse, they may ask you to have some tests done so that they can review the results next time they see you.
We are able to do the following tests at the Practice:

  • 24 hour blood pressure monitoring
  • Spirometry (lung function test)
  • ECG
  • Blood test
  • Urine dipstick
  • Swabs
  • Cervical screening (smear)

All other tests are done at the Hospital, such as X-Rays or CT scans.

Please note that you can only book in to have a test done if it has been requested by a Doctor, Nurse or Hospital Consultant.
If the Doctor or Nurse has requested that you drop off a sample (such as urine or poo) please make sure to drop it off at the Practice before 2pm so it can be sent to the lab the same day for testing.

Blood Tests

Blood tests can be done at the Practice by booking an appointment, and can also be done at the Countess of Chester Hospital.

There is a Phlebotomy Clinic in the 1829 building at the Countess of Chester Hospital which is open Monday to Friday 7.30am to 5.50pm. To book your timed appointment click HERE.
This is NOT a drop-in service.
Please be aware that you will need to collect a test request form from the Practice in advance.

If a child under the age of 12 requires a blood test, this must be done at the Paediatric Outpatients department at the Countess of Chester Hospital. Please phone 01244 365082 to book an appointment.
